Description
Chinese Five spice powder is an aromatic spice mixture used widely in China and other parts of Asia. Chinese Five spice powder's uses include stir-fry dishes, on fruits and in some meat dishes. The powder is mixture blend of Star anise, Szechuan pepper, fennel, cloves, cinnamon. Generally though, Chinese Five spice has the aroma of star anise combined with the sweetness of cassia, cloves, and plenty of ground fennel seeds to unite the flavors. Five-spice powder isn’t hot but is quite concentrated, so use it in small quantities

Usage
It is used in many Asian recipes, its sweet tangy flavour goes well with greasy meats like pork and duck. Stir-fried vegetables are enhanced by sprinkling about a teaspoon of Chinese five-spice over them when cooking. Add a little salt and it makes an excellent spice rub for chicken, duck, pork and seafood.
